Lego Heads and Tiny Knits...

Finished the Christmas gifts for my 3 younger brothers. Incredibly happy with how it all turned out, especially since I had problems with the lego jars.

The lego jars are recycled baby food jars. I used Liquitex paint and dishwasher safe mod podge. I used dishwasher safe since I figured Mom would appreciate easy clean up. The issues I had arose from the combination of the paint and mod podge the don't work well together. I had to be careful with the first layer of mod podge over the details or it would smear it.

On the inside layers I had the issue of it bubbling after putting mod podge in it. I eventually discovered it took carefully adding the layers. I would put a layer of paint, let it dry a day, then a layer on mod podge, let it dry a day, and continued until I had four layers of paint. Sealed it with three layers of mod podge after that.

Doll For My Sister....

Yesterday I got the finishing touches for the doll I put together for a christmas gift. First present done and checked off the list!

Since my sister loves pink, this dress was a must! And the skirt turned out much fluffier than I thought it would be, but I know she'll love it that way.

I wanted to incorporate ribbon into a dress, but also keep some pink in it, so this was the second design I came up with. I love how it turned out!

And to keep dolly warm I added a cloak as well.

All the shoes I found at a doll show in the area. It's been about a year since I last went to one and it felt wonderful to be among dolls again. ^_^

I put her together using the Wide Eyed Wendy pattern by Judi's Dolls. And with the base dress pattern I was able to create both dresses. Judi has some amazing doll patterns. I'd recommend her if you're looking for a professional doll pattern!

Totoro!

Made this cute little Totoro for my fiance awhile back, just didn't post anything before he saw it as I wanted it to be a surprise. ^_^

I used the pattern by Emze Knits and switched it a little bit by adding Totoro's giant smile. Totoro's smile is one of my favorite features about him, so I decided he MUST have it and rearranged his face.

He also has a voice box inside that I made a pocket for. The voice box can be removed if one would rather just have a soft creature.

He was lots of fun to make and it was even more fun giving it to my fiance after having to wait awhile to see him!

  Enjoy the photos!

Very pleased with how he turned out. ^_^

Happy dancing Totoro!

My Baby Doll is Complete!

So I realized I never did get around to uploading the photos of the baby I was working on. I ended up naming her Chikako. And here they are now!

Comparison of the old and new body unclothed.

And comparison of old and new body clothed. :)

And some photos I took for the fun of it!

Magnetic pacifier!

Her lovely purple eyes! Had a wonderful time putting her together. Painting a doll is always fun. :D

Doll Workshop

I went to my second doll meet on Saturday and we had a doll workshop going on. It ended up being only the hostess and I who were there. Had lots of fun putting together doll furniture and talking. She helped me with a couple of problems I was having with my doll, so nice to have someone who understands what I'm talking about and be able to help. I made a sofa and she made a tuffet. Wish I would have thought to take photos of her doll on the chair she made, my brain didn't seem to want to work that day. I kept putting things together backwards!

I took some photos of my girl sleeping on her sofa with the new lap blanket I made her. I love how she looks like she conked out on the chair. So loving this girl! Now to decide whether to paint her or name her first.
