A New Chapter in Life.....

I had my little guy on the seventh of January, thus starting my adventures as a Mother.
He's seven weeks old now and growing fast! His smiles and coos in the morning are a delightful part of my day. :) Still a bit amazed that my Love and I have a baby. That I carried him in my womb for ten months and now he's here.

Decided to do cloth diapers for my little one. Because it's better for him and it saves money.
We've been using the pre-folds and covers since he was 1 1/2 weeks old. Planning to start earlier with the next baby. We used disposable diapers at first because I didn't want to deal with tar poop on the cloth. But that poop lasted a much shorter time than I remembered, so I'll buy a smaller package next time.

This is a Kawaii brand cover on him at about 1 month old.
I LOVE these covers! So much easier to use than what was used when I was a child.
The fabric it's made out of is so much better than the plastic cover. And it's a one size cover, so it will grow with him.

Gerber brand cover, size 0-3 months. Not happy with these, these are what I remember seeing as a child. Crinkly, doesn't fit well, and it's harder to not make a mess when changing him. He's seven weeks and it still doesn't fit his legs.

Been very grateful to my Mama for teaching me to sew so many years ago. It's nice to be able to make my own things, rather than buy them. This is a nursing pillow I made, should have made it sooner it would have been helpful for those very trying first weeks of breast-feeding. I also made a nursing cover with boning in the top so that I can actually see what I'm doing while feeding him in public.

Preparing for Baby...

Been busily working on getting ready for baby's arrival in December and thought I'd share what I've gotten put together so far. My wonderful husband found a carseat, Chicco brand, so I know baby will be safe. :)   Almost done with purchasing clothing. I have all I need for 3-6 months. *cheers* Just need a few items for 0-3 months and I'm done with purchased clothing. Still have hand-knit items in both sizes, but those are just a matter of time and patience on my part before I have those done and ready as well!

Hats I have completed so far. One 3-6 month old beanie and four 0-3 month sized hats, with one being modeled by Cailyn, the latest reborn doll from the nursery.

Totoro hat!!! I fell in love with the pattern as soon as I saw it and had to make it. I'm a huge fan of Totoro, so a Totoro hat for my baby is a must. Now I just need to finish the booties with Soot Sprites that I want to go with it.....

The awesome 2-way swing I found at my wonderful local thrift store that carries tons of baby items. Got it for only $35 and it's in great condition.

Hand-knit booties I've made so far. Converse that I made for the baby announcement, my husband and I both have black chuck taylors from our Doctor Who themed wedding and I thought it would be cute for baby to have some as well. :)

The gray-brown booties, I like the way they turned out, but they were a pain to make. The pattern was not well written and confused me at several points. Usually I can figure things out after some research, this one, not so much. Just glad it worked out in the end, though I will never use that pattern again.

The blue booties are made with a cotton-silk yarn and are SO SOFT! I loved the pattern as well, very simple and easy. There will be more in this style in the future, probably going to use it for the Soot Sprite shoes and several other colors as well. Plus it's a 0-6 month pattern, so each pair of booties will last awhile longer.

Baby bump photos since I know so many people want to see the growing belly.  ^_^
Added the one below mostly because I realized I'm hiding my back in the clear photo above, so you can't see the true size of the bump. What I get for trying to take photos by myself!

And a photo of baby at almost 25 weeks in the womb!!!

Life and it's adventures.....

It's been a very long time since I've updated my blog and decided it was time I get back to it again!

I married my best friend in December of 2013! Moved to upstate New York, where I am thoroughly enjoying the cool weather. And now we are expecting our first wee one in December of this year!

I'm planning on making lots of knit items for our little one. Especially with how cold it gets up here in winter. So I thought I'd post updates here of what I've knitted. Hats, booties, and jackets are in my future!

Also I've started a making reborn dolls. Which I'm highly excited about! Below are a few photos of the ones I've made so far...

Rachel is the first doll I made. Newborn size, she had some challenges along
the way. I use two different kits, the head was from one and the arms and legs were another
kit. It took some work to get the vinyl to match up, but she turned out beautifully in the end!

Lily is the second one I made. She's a micro preemie, which was challenging
with just her size. I had a hard time finding diapers and clothing for her. Probably
won't make another her size. Though she is adorable. ^_^

Paige is the most recent doll I've made. Another newborn sized baby. She was
wonderful to work with and I'm immensely pleased with how she turned out!

The Bluest Blue Ever....

"Big and little at the same time.
Brand new and ancient.
And the bluest blue ever" ~ The Doctor

So...  my wonderful boyfriend sent me the most spectacular bouquet of flowers ever.
TARDIS blue roses, they are the most beautiful roses I've ever seen and I had to share them!

Artsy Flowers.....

So today I was looking at the flowers sitting on my desk and thought they were picturesque. So these are the result of my having a bit of fun with it. Enjoy!

Love how the water is reflecting the desk here!

I really liked that the light shown through the vase in these last two. ^_^

New Projects

Well the nanny job has ended. Was good for the time it lasted, but was time for me to move on. I'm now working for a doll shop/electric shop and love it! It's been a dream come true kinda job. :)
Since I have a little more time on my hands for now, I've picked up some projects that have been laying around. So right now I'm working on a knit guy doll for my brother. It was suppossed to be his christmas gift two years ago and I'm just now getting to it, so it's about time I get it done! Having fun figuring out how I'm gonna make everything he wants and get it finished.
I have so many projects that I need to finish. Clothes that need repaired, a stuffed badger to put together and make clothes for, a medieval style dress that needs embrodered and put together, and I'm sure I'll find other things as I go along!!!

Waiting for Arrietty....

So I've been anxiously awaiting the arrival of "The Secret World of Arrietty" in the US. It's been out in Japan for two years now and I've been waiting all that time. I was going to go see it in theaters when it came out here in the US.
Well things got away from me and when I finally checked to see what the last date was, it was that very same day I checked and I had missed the last showing by fifteen minutes. Ugh! Today I was looking to see when it will come out on dvd. The date online said June 14th 2012, sigh, guess I have to wait a little longer...

Finally.... Some Photos

So I finally figured out how to get photos on the computer. It's a little tedious to get them on, but I was able to work it out.
Here's the photos I promised from my trip to St. Louis...

Had fun making her mimick the statues!

This little waterfall looked so peaceful.

Fun pretending to sword fight!

This one is my favorite!

Went to a Christmas doll meet today and took some photos.
Lots of cute tinies!

Satomi with a SD size doll to show a friend the difference in size.

Noticed I haven't been here in awhile......

So I thought I'd put up an update. I now have a job as a nanny and get to watch a couple of little girls. Very thankful for my job, was getting tired of being unemployed.
I had a wonderful Thanksgiving, went to St. Lous and visited family. Was nice to spend Thanksgiving surrounded by family. Went to the zoo there, I have to say that was the most awesome penquin exibit I've ever seen!
My doll finally has a name...
Satomi Erina Ohayashi         So glad she finally has a name. During Thanksgiving I took some photos of her with some Japanese items (One of my cousins is part Japanese). Had lots of fun doing that, I'll try to get some photos up soon. But will see how things go.
Right now I'm working on an African dress for my African American doll. Found some pretty fabric at JoAnn and now need to work on the pattern. Been awhile since I've made my own pattern, so that should be fun!

Job hunting and other such things....

So I went to take an assessment test for the GED preparation classes and found out that the October classes were already full. So now I have to wait for January. In the mean time I'm job hunting.
I've finished painting my doll all up, am working on naming her, and making her some wings. Some day I'll take photos and post them. At the moment I only have access to a computer that is difficult to load photos to. Will still try to keep things updated as well as possible with out photos for now!

Update....

I'm now living with my grandparents. Finished my unpacking last week. Went and took the assesment test and found out take the October classes are already full. So I have to wait for the January classes. In the meantime I look for a job.
I've been working on my girl for the last couple of days. She now has bottom lashes and lips. All thats left now is the top lashes, lip gloss, and a matte gloss for her eyelids. I've also been looking at names, so hopefully she'll have a name soon! Excited about having her back in one piece. :)

Will be gone for awhile....

Thought I'd warn everyone that I will not be posting for awhile. I'm in the middle of moving in with my grandparents to work on my education. Looking forward to being able to complete my basic schooling. A bit nervous just because I've never done anything like this before, but I'm sure I'll do fine once I get started!
I'm not sure how often I'll post once school starts. That will be my number one priority for awhile, so crafts might be pushed aside for some time. I'll probably still try to update my blog at least once a month, just have to see how it goes!

Been gone to long

I am horrified, I told myself I would post at least once a week and realized I haven't done anything for a month. I have finished blushing the hands and feet, they turned out really nice. I've finished dying the white furr pink and making it into a wig. The wig is the perfect color for my girl. I still haven't picked out a name for her, need to get busy on that.
I'm working on her faces right now. I tried a tricked I read about on DoA to take a piece of tape draw the shape you want your eyebrow to be cut it out and use it as a template. It was sooo much easier that way, didn't take near as long to draw them all on and have them match.
I have photos of the hands and feet, but right now I don't have a computer to upload them to. As soon as I do I'll post them. I also plan to take some photos of her new wig. And maybe by then she'll have a face also!

Sigh and Botheration

Well this week has been pretty unproductive. I got pink eye on Saturday and it is just now leaving. So I didn't get any doll projects done. Plus some how my glasses got lost, so I've been half blind since I got pink eye(I usually wear contacts). So looking forward to next week.
Hoping to be able to work on her again soon. I'm going to work on the hands and feet next. I think the hardest part will be getting all the blush to match, I have many pairs of hands to paint. :) I finished looking at the Japanese names, now to tackle the next language!

Masquerade Party

I went to Laura's bachelorette last tuesday, there was a masquerade theme going on. I made my own mask because I wanted a butterfly shape and I couldn't find any pre-made where I live. :) I had lots of fun putting the mask together. Found  fabric to match my dress, embroidered vines and leaves, and sewed some sheer black flowers on it. My dress I found for five bucks at salvation army. Borrowed heels from Grams, leggings from my bride's maid outfit, and I was ready to go! I had a wonderful time hanging out with Laura and the bridal party!
